Whether you’re interested in museums, parks, or something else, San Angelo, TX has something to offer you. One of our favorite things about living in this great city is the number of great outdoor activities in the area. Today, we’re looking at our favorite things to do in the San Angelo area that you can easily drive to.

1. Playing at The Bosque

If you’re feeling cooped up and want to enjoy some fresh air, we recommend playing at The Bosque at 330 S. Irving St. If you bring your own balls and washers, you can play volleyball or bocce ball or enjoy a few rounds of washer pitching. There are also other games you can enjoy at The Bosque, including giant chess and miniature golf.

2. Fishing at San Angelo State Park

Fishing at San Angelo State Park at 362 S. FM 2288 is another great outdoor activity you can enjoy. You can fish in the Concho River or O.C. Fisher Reservoir, and you won’t need a fishing license if you’re not fishing from a boat. Some of the fish you can expect to catch in the O.C. Fisher Reservoir include white crappie, white bass, and largemouth bass. You can also expect to catch:

  • Channel catfish
  • Blue catfish
  • Flathead catfish

There are also 50 miles of multi-use trails you can enjoy in this state park. On a hot day, you can stroll down the shady trail. True to its name, this one-mile out-and-back trail features plenty of shade as it takes you through pecan hardwood river bottoms. You can also hike or bike along the dinosaur trail system.

3. Catching a Show at the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial River Stage

We also recommend catching a show at the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial River Stage at 16 E. Avenue A. Nestled in a terraced hillside, this outdoor amphitheater can accommodate up to 8,900 spectators. It has hosted a wide variety of popular artists, including Ted Nugent, Willie Nelson, and B.B. King.

4. Taking the San Angelo River Walk

Finally, we recommend taking the four-mile San Angelo River Walk. This walk will take you past indescribably beautiful water displays, outdoor art installations, and gardens. You will also walk past several kid-friendly parks. You can also fish for carp, bluegill, catfish, and bass.

There is no shortage of opportunities to enjoy a fun afternoon outdoors in San Angelo. However, you need a reliable ride to truly enjoy all of the wonderful things this city offers. If you need a car you can count on, come visit us today at Randall Motors to take a 2023 Cadillac XT5 for a test drive.
