2021 Cadillac XT4

How do you know if your car’s brakes are bad and need repairs? In the following article, your Cadillac dealer gives you the top signs to look out for to determine when your vehicle needs a brake repair.

1. The Brake Pads Appear Thin

New brake pads have a thickness of around eight to twelve millimeters. Ideally, for the brake pads to properly function, they should be thicker than 6.4 millimeters. Take a look between the wheel spokes to see if your car’s brake pads look worn or are less than a quarter of an inch thick.

When the pads appear thin, you should replace them as soon as possible. The bare minimum is a pad thickness of 3.2 millimeters. It’s best not to wait until your pads are this thin to avoid brake failure.

2. You Hear a High-Pitched Squealing Sound

When your brake pads are worn, you will hear a squealing sound when you apply the brakes. The sound comes from a tiny piece of metal called a wear indicator built into the brake pads to warn you that the pads are thin and need replacing. It’s not urgent, but you should schedule a brake pad replacement for your safety. Ask your technician to replace the pads as soon as possible before they wear too thin and damage the rotors.

3. Txhere Is an Awful Grinding Noise

If you didn’t replace the worn brake pads when you heard the squealing sounds, soon you will hear grinding noises. When the brake pads wear down completely and the bare metal is scraping against the rotors, the awful grinding noises will start. The rotors are being scratched and damaged. They can even get hot enough to melt, causing the brakes to stick. When you hear grinding noises, you urgently need to get to your technician for repairs.

4. It Takes Your Car Longer to Stop

If you step on the brake pedal, but your car is slow to respond, and it takes longer than it does typically to come to a stop, it’s time to visit your dealership for a brake system inspection. The problem could be due to a brake fluid leak, a leaking brake hose, or an air leak. Ask your technician to perform a thorough brake system inspection to determine what is causing the problem.

5. Your Car Is Leaking Brake Fluid

There is a brake fluid leak if there are yellow or brown puddles on the ground under your car. Low brake fluid will trigger your brake warning light and is a serious issue that needs urgent attention from a qualified technician.

6. Your Car Pulls to the Side

When you brake, and your car pulls to the left or right, the brake linings are wearing unevenly. Ask your technician for an adjustment. If the brake fluid is contaminated, your car will also pull to the side. The technician will drain the fluid and replace it.

7. The Brake Pedal Is Vibrating

Rotors warp from excessive hard braking, age, or when they wear too thin. Warped rotors will cause vibrations that you will feel through the brake pedal. If your car’s rotors are damaged, you will have to replace them.

8. You Smell Burning

When your brakes get too hot, it will cause a burning smell. Overheated brakes will not work correctly. It’s best to stop your car and wait for your brakes to cool down. Contact your dealership immediately for assistance.

If you notice any signs, get help as soon as possible. For expert brake system repairs, contact Randall Motors today. Our qualified technicians will perform a thorough brake system inspection and do the necessary maintenance to keep you safe on the road.

When you get that special craving, nothing else will satisfy you. We’d love to point you in the direction of the best pizza in San Angelo, TX. Naturally, we have all the regular chains, but there’s some much better pizza out there.

Where to Find the Best Pizza Near San Angelo, TX

Trophy’s

Tropy’s is over at 4325 Southwest Blvd, and they’re open for takeout and delivery. This is a quick-serve place that you’ll love. They open at noon during weekdays and close at 8 pm. On Friday and Saturday, they open at 11 am and don’t close until 9 pm. On Sundays, they’re only open for dinner from 4 pm until 8 pm.

This is a beloved local spot with melt-in-your-mouth calzones, perfectly cooked pizzas, and a fast, friendly staff you’ll enjoy dealing with. They offer hand-tossed, deep dish, and thin-crust pizzas, calzones, wings, pasta, and salads. We highly recommend the cinnamon sticks for a bit of dessert, too.

Lily’s

Lily’s is at 2424 Vanderventer Ave and is open for lunch from 11 am to 2 pm and for dinner from 5 pm until 9 pm, Tue through Sat. On Sundays, they stay open from noon until 9 pm. Their food is good, the prices are awesome, and the service is friendly. You can also watch your game here and bring your own beer: if you do, please drink responsibly and never drink and drive.

The white pizza is a particular favorite here, and the sauce and homemade dough are what really make this pizza. You don’t want to miss their nanjos, though, and the baked subs are a lunch staple in San Angelo. We’re also fond of the baked parm.

DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks

At 3536 Knickerbocker Rd, DoubleDave’s is open from 11 am until 9 pm. Tues through Sun. On Friday and Saturday, they stay open an extra hour. We love the staff here in particular: they’re friendly, kind, fast, and a joy to be around. They deliver, even to nearby hotels, and they have daily specials it’s worth checking out.

We love the soft, pillowy crust, the generous toppings (but not so much grease that it’s all you taste), and the handcrafted Peroni Rolls. The Dave’s Fave pizza is not to be missed, and you won’t have a better Meateater anywhere. Build your own if you prefer, and the Caulipower gluten-free crust is great for those with allergies or just anyone who wants to minimize their carbs.

Old Central Firehouse

At 200a S Magdalen St, Old Central Firehouse is closed on Sun-Mon and open from 11 am to 8 pm during the week and until 9 pm on Frid and Sat. The pizza here is absolutely amazing: it might just be that we’ve saved the best for last in our reviews (though there’s always arguments about something as important as pizza).

The Alarm and BBQ pizzas are perfect if you love some heat to your pie. Mushroom Madness, the brisket pizza, and the Firestarter are other local favorites you’ll want to try if you’re looking for something different. But the pepperoni, margherita, and sausage pizzas are all great if you want something more run-of-the-mill.
